What is a True Contributor (Part1)

Contributors,

If you're reading this post, you're a person who is dedicated to becoming the best version of themselves that they can be.  Congratulate yourself because… Step 1: check, done!

So….what's next?  How do you move from the desire to be your best self to real life results?

Interestingly, our world is filled with advice on growth and development.  Here are a few examples:

"What the mind can believe, it can achieve."

"Be your best self."

"Winners never quit."

"Hard work always pays off."

"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again."

All of these platitudes are short, easy to understand, and to the point.  That's why you've heard them repeatedly.  Unfortunately, though, they don't give you much in terms of direction.  How do you use your "mind' to believe and then achieve?  How do you become your "best self" by capitalizing on your potential?  And should you really not quit a process that isn't working for you?

Here at True Contributors, we demystify the process of growth and development.  In other words, we don't just "talk the talk."  Rather, we have a PROGRAM because we "walk the walk."  (See what I did there?)

Let's get started.

First thing's First: What is a True Contributor?

A True Contributor is a person who strives to reach their potential.   Just as importantly, a True Contributor is an individual that has learned how to be the best that they can be.

Here's the thing, we all have potential.  But the ability to tap into it requires a key set of skills - most of which we haven't been taught.  We all encounter multiple obstacles or challenging situations in our desire to develop.  And if we don't have the skills to surmount them, we will get stuck.

If we're not equipped with growth mindset, emotional agility, or the ability to use our voices, it will be difficult to improve both personally and professionally.  If we don't know how to listen effectively, influence people, or hold a hard but effective conversation, we will continue to get stuck behind challenging situations.

Simply put, it's not enough to want to grow.  True development - becoming a True Contributor - requires a set of skills that allow us to move past the inevitable obstacles of development so that we can transform our potential into results.

Want to learn how we walk the walk?  Stay tuned for our next post in this series. (Published next week!)
